Do you want an iPad? Well, do ya' eh? Well, now you don't have to go across border to get one. Apple says the popular tablet will launch in Canada on May 28th. Canadians can begin pre-ordering the device this Monday, May 10th.
But, if you're expecting the high dollar will get you a reasonable price, forget about it. Apple has continued its tradition of overcharging Canadians. The 16gb Wifi model will retail for $549, a full $25 more than it is in the US according to today's exchange rate. The Financial Post is reporting that the 64gb 3G model will sell for a whopping $879. At those prices, you might as well buy a proper laptop. I'd personally take a scenic drive down the the States to get one. You need a vacation right?
Rogers-Fido says it will be the first company to offer 3G plans for the iPad though they didn't say whether this was an exclusive deal. Telus and Bell haven't announced their own plans yet.
To date, the iPad has already sold 1 million units in the United States alone. Enough to take a big bite out of the Netbook market.
